Description & Show Notes
Welcome to the SANUSPLANET Podcast!
Today Maggy would like to introduce you Ivonne Yanez, co-founder of the organization "Acciòn Ecològica" from Ecuador. This is one of the organizations, that got financially supported by the SANUSPLANET Foundation since 2020.
As we know, that trust is created by transparency, we would like to introduce you the people and organizations we send money too.
"Acción Ecológica" is an organization in Ecuador that works very hard for the conservancy of nature and the rights of indigenous people. The Amazon is being burned down for several "reasons", such as animal agriculture, producing soy and corn to feed live stock, but also for the drilling of oil. When oil companies are drilling for oil, what stays behind is many times a huge black lake, full of fermentation water. This is a byproduct of the oil industry and doesn't find any use. But this water is toxic, kills all live surrounding it and makes animals and people sick.
Acción Ecológica is very active on education programs, demonstrations and projects around the deforestation, (working to prevent the rainforest from being cut down in the first place) as well as human rights.
Currently, this organization is forming a commission for truth, justice and reparation composed of defenders of different territories.
The goal of this commission is to permanently monitor the violation of rights, to follow up on the various denunciations, and to conduct a periodic review of environmental issues at the end of each government term.
